European Union (EU)* : Imposition of a Definitive Anti-dumping Duty on Imports of Certain Candles, Tapers and the Like Originating in the Mainland of China
Further to Commercial Information Circular No. 562/2008 of 17 November 2008, the Council of the EU has published a regulation to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of certain candles, tapers and the like originating in the Mainland of China. - Salient points are set out below-
(a) Product | : |
Candles, tapers and the like, other than memory lights and other outdoor burners, falling within CN codes ex 3406 00 11, ex 3406 00 19 and ex 3406 00 90 (TARIC codes 3406 00 11 90, 3406 00 19 90 and 3406 00 90 90). For the purposes of the regulation, 'memory lights and other outdoor burners' means candles, tapers and the like which have one or more of the following characteristics :

(b) Rate of Duty | : | EUR 549.33 per tonne of fuel (except for a number of companies whose individual duty rates range from EUR 0 per tonne of fuel to EUR 367.09 per tonne of fuel) |
(c) Effective Date | : | 15 May 2009 |
(d) Duration | : | 5 years |
(e) Collection of Duty | : |
Amounts secured by way of the provisional anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of the product concerned since 16 November 2008 shall be definitively collected. The amounts secured in excess of the amount of the definitive anti-dumping duties shall be released. Where the definitive duties are higher than the provisional duties, only the amounts secured at the level of the provisional duties shall be definitively collected. |
