United Kingdom (UK) : Imposition of definitive anti-dumping and countervailing duties on imports of optical fibre cables originating in the Mainland of China
Further to the Commercial Information Circular No. 462/2023 of 11 July 2023, the UK Government published notices 2023/22 and 2023/23 on 23 October 2023 to impose definitive anti-dumping and countervailing duties on imports of optical fibre cables originating in the Mainland of China. 2.Salient points of the notices are set out below -
| (a) Product | : | Single mode optical fibre cables, made up of one or more individually sheathed fibres, with protective casing, whether or not containing electric conductors; excluding cables in which all the optical fibres are individually fitted with operational connectors at one or both extremities and plastic insulated cables for submarine use containing a copper or aluminium conductor in which fibres are contained in metal module(s), currently falling under UK Global Tariff commodity codes 8544700010 and originating in the Mainland of China |
| Imposition of definitive anti-dumping duties | ||
| (b) Rate of duty | : | 46.2% of the net, free-at-the-frontier price, before other amounts of import duty (except for a number of companies whose individual duty rate is 23.0%) |
| (c) Effective date | : | 11 July 2023 |
| (d) Reimbursement | : | Importers may refer to the guidance provided in the notice to apply for a reimbursement of the difference between the provisional and definitive duty rates, where relevant. |
| Imposition of definitive countervailing duties | ||
| (e) Rate of duty | : | 11.79% of the net, free-at-the-frontier price, before other amounts of import duty (except for a number of companies whose individual duty rates is 10.62%) |
| (f) Effective date | : | 24 October 2023 |
3.For traders involved in the exports of the subject product from the Guangdong Province, please contact ZHENG Jingmin, Director of Trade Remedy and Industry Injury Investigation Division under the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, at 86 20 3881 9797. The Division is responsible for, among others, guiding and coordinating enterprises in Guangdong Province in responding to anti-dumping investigations against products from the province.
